Port Elgin, N.B. - It is with sadness that the family of Doreen (Allen) Connors, age 79, of Port Elgin, N.B., announce her passing on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008 at the Westford Nursing Home. Born on April 8, 1929, in Port Elgin, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Gladstone and Hazel (Goodwin) Allen. Doreen attended Port Elgin High School and Regional Memorial School, and went on to work in several places, including the RCMP for 10 years, Toronto General Hospital, CBC, the Attorney General’s Office in Ontario, Port Elgin Jr. High School and the Bank of Nova Scotia in Port Elgin. Doreen was a member of St. Clements Catholic Church in Port Elgin, N.B. since 1980 and a member of the Women’s Group. Doreen will be sadly missed by her daughter Margaret (Willard) McCutcheon of Ottawa, Ont., and by her grandchildren Vanessa and Willie. She was predeceased by her husband John Gerald Connors. Arrangements were entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home in Sackville, N.B. Cremation took place and the funeral mass was held on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 4 p.m. from St. Clements Catholic Church, Port Elgin, N.B., with Father Allison Carroll officiating. Burial was in the Fernwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doreen may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetic Association, Canadian Cancer Society Research Fund or to the charity of one’s choice.
