Henry Davis

Date de décès : 20 février 2009

Port Elgin, N.B. – Suddenly, while enjoying the outdoors as he so often did, Henry Davis, age 66, passed away at his home in Port Elgin on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009. Born in Point de Bute, N.B., he was a son of the late Thomas and Blanche (Trenholm) Davis. A graduate of University of New Brunswick and Universite de Moncton, Henry was a well-respected and much-loved educator in the Port Elgin schools for 31 years, retiring in 1996. He was a founding member of the Port Elgin Minor Basketball Association. He was most happy when he was on the go: walking or working on his woodlot with his dog Scout by his side; fishing, sailing, and canoeing with family and friends; hiking, exploring and touring with his wife. More recently, he enjoyed following the sporting exploits of his grandchildren in basketball, hockey, soccer and motocross. Henry made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him and he will be dearly missed by all. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 45 years Betty; children Beth (Dwight) Trenholm, Sackville, Stephen (Elaine), Notre Dame, Toby Davis, Sackville; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Rebecca, Devon, David, Sophia, Jesse and Kyla; sisters, Carol (Al) Priestley, Hamilton, ON, Joan (Vic) Schwaiko, Burlington, ON; sister-in-law Clara Allen; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Keith. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin (538-2241) where visiting hours were held. The funeral service was held from the Port Elgin Regional School on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009 at 6 p.m., Rev. Jim Shaffner officiating. Those wishing to make a donation in Henry’s memory may do so to the Stan Cassidy Foundation (New Brunswick’s Neurological Rehabilitation Centre, Fredericton), or the charity of your choice. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
