Ivy Jean Tower

LYNN, MASS. - The death of Ivy Jean Tower, age 86, wife of the late Norman Tower, occurred at her home March 7, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Born and raised in Rockport, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Mae (Briggs) Tower, moving to Lynn, Mass., with her husband and family in 1951. Ivy had worked at the former Lynn Hospital and then after her retirement had worked as a cook at the Abby Hill Nursing Home in Saugus. A fantastic cook, she was a member of the Washington Street Baptist Church and was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Audrey Frieling and Marjorie Janakas, both of Lynn; two brothers, Gaius of Hamilton, Ont.; Eugene (Barb) of Sackville; one sister Pat (Marvin) Goodwin of Hamilton, Ont.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was the mother of late Raymond, James and Harold Tower, and was also predeceased by eight brothers and sisters, Violet Smith, May Read, Bernice Snowdon, Ethel Rideout and Helen Porter, Wilbur, George and Winston Tower. Her funeral was held on Monday, March 12 at 11 a.m. from the Solimine, Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home, Lynn. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
