Amherst, N.S. – The death of Ken Butler, age 50, of Amherst, occurred suddenly at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, on Monday, July 21, 2008. Born in Amherst, he was the adopted son of the late Claude Chapman and Doris (Goodwin) Chapman. A heavy equipment operator, he worked with George Collins in forestry and blueberries. An avid NASCAR fan, he enjoyed snowmobiling and ATV riding. A lover of animals, he loved to tend and ride his horse “Skip” and spend time with his great dane “Taz” and other dog “Babe.” Ken will be sadly missed by his son, Tyler; Tyler’s mother, Jane; his adopted mother, Doris; girlfriend, Brittany; brothers, John (Helen), Allison (Marsha), Jim (Gail) and Gerry; nieces and nephews; and close friend Murray Haley. Ken’s remains were entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst (667-8777) from where a funeral service was held on Friday, July 25, 2008, at 11 a.m., Rev. Steve Longmoore officiating. Burial in the Lorneville Cemetery. Friends and family were invited to a time of visitation at the funeral chapel last Thursday evening.
