Sackville, N.B. - John MacKinnon, 78, of Sackville passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Moncton City Hospital. Born in Sackville, he was the son of the late Roy and Jean (Craik) MacKinnon. John enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He had great fun dancing, playing cards, and liked animals and birds. He was an avid reader and storyteller. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Edna (nee Height); two daughters, Vicki (Dana) McKibbon of Moncton, and Tamala (Steven) Fadelle of Nappan, N.S.; one son, Troy of Sackville; one sister Babe Phinney of Sackville; six granddaughters, Tia, Kira, Ashley, Emilia, Alyssa, and Hailey. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Connie Dauvin; and two brothers, Bud and Muir. John’s remains were entrusted into the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300), from where visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2008. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. from the funeral home on Tuesday, December 23, 2008, Pastor Vernon Vickruck officiating. Interment will be in the spring.
