Reginald "Reg" Acton

Midgic, N.B. - Reginald Acton, age 92, of Midgic, passed away at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, comforted by the presence of his children Robert, Joan and David. Born in Jolicure, he was a son of the late Richard and Lena (Cook) Acton. A life-long farmer, he established Actondale Farms and Storeview Farm. He was a life member of the Federation of Agriculture for New Brunswick, and was inducted into the Agricultural Hall of Fame in 1987. He was a Canadian director for the Shorthorn Association for many years. He judged and showed cattle in national and international competitions, and was active in all agricultural activities locally. He was a member of the Midgic Baptist Church. He will be sadly missed by two sons, Robert (Laura), and David (Anna), both of Cookville; one daughter, Joan (Garth) Dunbar, of Midgic; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Ina Guile, of British Columbia. He was predeceased by his wife, Ina, in 1986; daughter-in-law, Alma; and by brothers, Fred, Roland and Esmond. Arrangements were entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home in Sackville, where visiting hours were held on Friday, Oct. 24. The funeral service was held on Saturday, Oct. at 2 p.m. at the Midgic Baptist Church, with Pastor Hal Lowther officiating. Burial was in the Cookville Cemetery.
