William Gordon Rayworth, 89, of Moncton passed away at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007. Born in Upper Cape, N.B. on Feb. 22, 1917, he was the son of the late Hebert and Jeanette (Irvine) Rayworth. He was a man of integrity and strength who worked at many occupations in his lifetime and was respected by all. He retired at 69 as manager of Atlantic Autoware and Bearings Ltd. He attended Humphrey Memorial United Church in Moncton where he sang in the choir for 49 years. Gordon will be forever missed by his beloved wife of 67 years, Elizabeth (Chapman); son Walter (Shelagh) of Amherst; daughter Suzanne Jardine (Thomas) of Moncton; grandchildren, Andrew Jardine (Joanne), Scott Jardine (Karla), Christopher Rayworth (Stephanie) and Kathleen Rayworth (Laurie); sisters Helen Cumming and Leah Connolly; and brother Lawrence; as well as his beloved great-grandchildren Ben, Abby, William, Duncan, Colin and Alex; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Jean and brother Cedric. Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visiting hours on Tuesday Feb. 20 from 2-4 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23 at Humphrey Memorial United Church, 95 Massey Ave. A reception for Gordon's family and friends will follow the service in the church hall.
