Edna M. Crossman Amherst - With great sadness we announce the passing of Edna May Crossman on Sunday, November 4, 2007 in Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel (McDow) Salsman. Edna worked for many years on the housekeeping staff of Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and quilt making as a past time. She was an adherent of Christ Church, Amherst. Edna is survived by eight daughters Marilyn Hawkes, Brenda Melanson and Gloria (Delbert) Fraser, all of Amherst, Eleanor (James) Perry of Truemanville, Heather (Peter) Maillet of Frederiction, N.B., Doris (Thane) Walton of Thunder Bay, Ont. and Germaine (Norman) Botterill and Joyce Van De Walle both of British Columbia and one son William (Carol) of Amherst, brothers Blake (Lillian) Salsman of Somerset, N.S., Robert (Jean) Salsman of Waterville, N.S. and Oliver (Phyllis) Salsman of Morrisburg, Ont., sisters Doris (Leslie) Garnett of Margaretsville, N.S. and Mary Dolson of Johnstown, Ont., sisters-in-law Laura Salsman of Cambridge, N.S., Esther Salsman of Berwick and Sylvia (Roy) Rushton of Tidehead, N.B., brother-in-law Stanley Avery of Ontario, 25 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by her neighbour and very dear friend Marguerite MacKenzie. Edna is predeceased by her husband Medley, brothers Ralph, Garfield and Clifford Salsman and sisters Edith Johnstone and Phyllis Avery. Visitation was held on Monday from 6-9 p.m. in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst. (667-9906). Funeral service took place Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at 2 p.m. from Christ Church, Amherst with Rev. Glenn Eason officiating. Interment was in the Amherst Cemetery.
