Amy Botsford Baker Amherst - Amy Botsford Baker, age 90, of Upper Nappan, Cumberland County passed away Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan, N.S., surrounded by her family. Born in Moncton, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Pansy (Hilson) Lund and was a direct decendent of the MacLeod - Lund clan from Pictou County. She grew up in Sackville, N.B. and later moved to Amherst and then to Shinimicas Bridge where she lived on a farm for many years. Amy worked at the Metropolitan Store and Speedy Propane in Amherst for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Amherst and taught sunday school at Highland Baptist Church where she was superintendent and worked very closely with one of her special friends Pearl Maltby . Amy graduated from the Amherst Academy in 1935 and later tutored many children in the Amherst area. She was an outstanding pitcher for the Amherst Red Wings softball team and was inducted into the Amherst Hall of Fame. Amy had a passion for baking, gardening, music, dancing and singing and worked very hard all of her life and still always maintained her sense of humour. She was a devoted loving mother, grandmother, great and great great grandmother. Amy is survived by five daughters Helen (Gerald) Read, Judy Baker (Bob Smith) and Gloria (Doug) Cormier, all of Upper Nappan, Theresa Jones of Amherst and Beverly Baker of Shinimicas Bridge, five sons Ralph "Bud" (Dale) of Intervale, N.B., Robert "Bob" (Raylene) of Nappan, Doug (June) of Grafton, N.B., Bill (Jean) of Greenville and George (Ann) of Amherst, two sisters Jessie (Eldred) Everill of Amherst and Jennie (Lawrence) Coy of Fredericton, N.B., many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Emily Strathearn and Dorcas Ison and brothers Herman and John. Visitation took place on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst. (667-9906) Funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 10 a.m. from First Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Morley Bentley and Rev. Donald Miller officiating.
