Audrey Mae (Schofield) Estabrooks AMHERST - Audrey Mae (Schofield) Estabrooks, age 88, of Amherst, widow of the late Rev. Myles Estabrooks, passed away Monday, March 10, 2008, at Gables Lodge, Amherst, N.S. She was the youngest daughter of the late Wesley and Harriet (Rooney) Schofield and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was born and raised in Amherst, she married her husband Myles Estabrooks in 1936 and raised her family of two daughters in Amherst. Audrey was a seamstress and did sewing for all her neighbour's children. She worked for Higgins Tailor Shop.In 1961 she and her husband were called to Turner Chapel A.M.E. Church in Oakville, Ont., by Bishop Gomez. They worked with this congregation until 1984, when they retired to live in Burlington, Ont. In 1988 they returned to Amherst. She was a member and attended Amherst First Baptist Church and was a life member of Women's Missionary Society. She is survived by daughter Harriett Burbine of Amherst, granddaughter Kristine (Andrew) Van De Wiel of Pugwash, great-granddaughters Corey and Jessie, great-grandsons Evan and Alexander Van De Wiel, grandson John (Laura) Burbine, great-grandsons Gregory and Brandon, daughter Norma Wasson of Parrsboro, grandsons Michael (Kelly) Wasson of Dartmouth, Walter (Joy) Wasson of Truro, great-grandson Jordan of Truro, granddaughter Laura (Michael) Allen of Parrsboro and great-grandson Mitchell and one nephew Norman (Jennene) Schofield of Webster, Texas. Audrey was predeceased by her husband Myles, sisters Vivian and Marguerite and brother Ralph. Visitation will be held at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at 2 p.m. from First Baptist Church, Amherst, with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Interment to take place in the Amherst Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Audrey's memory may be made to the First Baptist Church, A.M.E.
