The death of Doris Bowles, age 86, of Amherst, occurred at the Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008 following a lengthy illness. Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Lorna (Turner) Wilson. Doris enjoyed her family, children, knitting, cooking and entertaining. She attended First Baptist Church, Amherst. Full of life, all who knew her enjoyed her presence. She was a lover of animals and always had a pet. Doris will be sadly missed by her son, John; nieces, Lori and Kim and special friend Brenda Greeno. She was predeceased by her husband, Eric, sisters, Margie, Annie and Pearl and brothers, Frank and Gerald. Doris's remains were entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (667-8777) from where a memorial service was held on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 11 am, Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Burial in the Amherst Cemetery. A reception followed. Donations to a charity of the donor's choice gratefully accepted. www.furlongjones.ca
