AMHERST - Gerald (Jerry) Vaughn Wilson Jr. age 65 of Amherst passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan, NS. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Gerald and Alberta (Dowe) Wilson. Jerry, also known by many as Junior, worked at the Foundry in Sackville and Enheat in Amherst and later joined the Amherst Fire Department serving for over 35 years as a volunteer and career firefighter, retiring in 2003. Jerry had a passion for woodworking and made many beautiful items in his workshop and if you saw a shirt with no sandpaper in the pocket then it wasn't his shirt. As a child he whittled for hours on a piece of wood and never stopped whittling until he started using power tools. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping and spending time at his camp (Pilgrims Paradise). He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Chignecto Lodge #11 and Elizabeth Temple #6 in Amherst. He also treasured his faithful dog and companion Ami. Jerry is survived by his wife the former Joyce Ogden, two sons Frank (Nicolle) and Gary both of Amherst, one stepson Sean (Sarah) Harrison of Amherst, brothers Orey of Amherst and Jim (Lynn) of Burlington, ON, sisters Barb (Russell) Matthews, Susan (Allison) Kinney, Debbie Maxwell all of Amherst, two step grandsons Tyler and Michael Fury and two step granddaughters Dana and Grace Harrison, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Cathy Jolly. His remains rested in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Monday, December 10, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. with Knights of Pythias service at 7 p.m. Funeral service was held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Christ Church, Amherst with Archdeacon Glenn Eason officiating.
