It is with great sadness, the family of Joseph Henry LeBlanc, age 66 of Springhill, NS, announce his passing at the Moncton Hospital, Moncton, NB, with his loving wife by his side on Sunday, January 4, 2009. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Raymond and Edmay (Landry) LeBlanc. In his earlier years, Joe owned and operated a taxi service and trucking business for several years. Joe also worked for CN, Costin's Paving, and Enamel Heating. Later he was employed as a Correctional Officer at Dorchester Penitentiary for 10 years and from where he transferred to Springhill Penitentiary for over 20 years until his retirement. Joe was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed watching baseball in his free time. His many friends and family will always remember Joe for his caring and loving ways. Joseph will be greatly missed by his wife the former, Sandra (Roberts) Burke; Joe's sons, Brett (Lindsay) LeBlanc of Moncton, NB and Scott (Loratta) LeBlanc of Amherst Head; his two grandchildren, Brooklyn and Montana; as well as brother, Peter (Connie) LeBlanc of Amherst; also three step children, Patricia Roberts of Amherst, Peter Roberts of River Hebert, N.S. and Mark Roberts of Calgary, AB; seven step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; foster children, Louie Keeble of Parrsboro, NS and Lena Keeble of Pugwash, NS as well as two nephews. Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his aunt, Marie Malley. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906). There will be no visitation prior to the funeral service, which will be held on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. from the Amherst Open Bible Church, with Rev. Jamey Grooms officiating.
