Kenneth Richard Muir With regret, Kendra, Pam and Brad announce the death of their father, Kenneth Richard Muir on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007. Born on June 15, 1938, Kenneth was the only son of Thelma (Gillette) and Harry Muir, and brother to Shirley and Peggy. He grew up in south end Halifax, in an area known as Greenbank, attending Tower Road Elementary, Gorsebrook Junior High, and Queen Elizabeth High. His family moved to Bedford during his teenage years. He attended Dalhousie University, where he studied Engineering and played varsity football. Dad met our mother, Mary (George) while working in Parrsboro for the summer, and they married in 1958. Kendra was born in 1959, DeeDee in 1961, Pam in 1964, and Brad in 1966. Dad worked with Cameron Contracting Ltd. and his job took us to various places in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland until 1970, when we moved back to Parrsboro. There, he started his own successful company, Ken Muir Underground Services Ltd. Sadly our sister DeeDee, who had been born with cystic fibrosis, passed away in 1975. Dad and our mother divorced in 1987, and Dad moved back to Halifax. It was then he met Sandi, and they married in 1994. Dad and Sandi spent summers in Nova Scotia, tending their beautiful flower gardens, and winters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where the golf course was a second home for Dad. Dad has been an inspiration to all who knew him, facing his health challenges with strength and dignity. Sandi will miss him so much, as will Kendra and Gerry Power, Pam Muir and Al Jones, Brad and Linda Muir, Shirley and Tom Lane, Peggy and Jim Standen, and Sandi‚s son, Blair King. His grandchildren Alix and Sophie Power and Max and Abby Muir will grow up with many fond memories of their Papa. At Dad's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. However, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Society or the Canadian Cancer Society in his name would be greatly appreciated.
