Hughes BEAVER BANK and FOX RIVER - We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our precious mother and grandmother, Marie Jeanette Hughes of Beaver Bank, Hammonds Plains, and formerly of Fox River who passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at the Infirmary Site of the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Afton, Antigonish Co., she was a daughter of the late Reginald and Laura (Taylor) Dowe. Survived by daughters, Heather Nickerson (Paul), Beaver Bank; Sheila Wiebe (Jake), Okotoks, Alberta; Donna Schmidt, (Barry), Grande Prairie, Alberta; Roseann Myers (Doug), Ottawa; sisters, Eileen Bowden (Glendon), Diligent River; Ethel Varner, Truro; five grandchildren, Jillian and Hilary Schmidt; Laura, April and Bailey Myers; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Clayton in 1998; sisters, Eva, Delores; brothers, Stanley, Lorne, Basil. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Saturday in Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro where funeral service took place 2 p.m. Sunday, Rev. David Arthur officiating. Burial in the Port Greville United Cemetery.
