William R. Wood, 83, of Spencer's Island, Cumberland County passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008 in South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Baie Verte, NB, he was a son of the late Homer and Ruby (Allen) Wood. He was a veteran of World War II. Following the war, he was a lumberman, lobster fisherman and worked for Alcan Aluminum. He is survived by a very special sister, Willina Bird, Amherst; stepchildren, Marilyn DeWitt (George), Lower Sackville; Anna Stronge (Bob Ripley), Amherst; Lorna Fletcher (Lindsay), Spencer's Island; Dwaine Spicer (Mary), Hampton, N.B.; Donald Stronge (Diane), Keswick, Ont.; Lewis Stronge (Holly), Amherst; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Stronge, Sussex; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a very special grampie to Amanda Stronge and Darcy (Aimee) Stronge; as well as, Addison Leigh. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Marion Allen; a step-son, Keith. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2008 in the Spencer's Island Union Church, Rev. Greg Doyle officiating. Burial in the Advocate Cemetery.
