LAWTON, Dr. Louis Edmund–Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Miller Center, Dr. Louis Edmund Lawton, family physician for 54 years, aged 90. Leaving to mourn his beloved wife of 60 years Ethel (Brown); five children: Kenneth (Leah), Louis (Suzanne), Anna (Dr. Al Felix), John (Katie) and David (Lisa); grandchildren: Patrick, Christopher, Michelle, Andrew, Maria, Emily, Rosemary, Keith and Benjamin. Also leaving to mourn his brother Dr. Robert Lawton (Josephine), his sister Anna Lawton and his sister-in-law Mavis Muirhead of Halifax. Dr. Lawton was predeceased by his parents Louis J. Lawton and Bride Lawton of Bell Island, his brothers Keith Lawton of Halifax and Father William K. Lawton and his sister Eleanor Lawton of St. John’s. Dr. Lawton will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family and also by the thousands of patients and friends alike whose lives he enriched through his family and maternity practice, his teaching, his innumerable volunteer activities, his easy humour, his impressive intellect and his boundless supply of love and kindness. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road with visitation on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Pius X Church. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
