MEADE, Jonas – (March 30, 1918 - April 1, 2009). Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, Jonas Meade of Fortune, formerly of Gaultois, age 91 years. Predeceased by wife Alma, and brothers James, John, Frank, Harry and Albert. Leaving to mourn two sons: Roy (Barbara) of St. Philips and Frank (Georgina) of Milltown; four daughters: Sadie (Roy) Keats of St. John’s, Meta (Walter) Bateman of Porters Lake, Nova Scotia, Shirley (Roy) Kendell of Fortune, Joan (Calvin) Riggs of Fortune; special friend and companion Gladys Mullins; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at All Saints Anglican Church, Fortune on Thursday and Friday. Funeral service will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, Fortune. Interment to follow at All Saints Anglican Cemetery, Fortune. Donations in his memory may be made to All Saints Anglican Cemetery Fund, Fortune.
