It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Mary E. MacNeil, on Sunday, April 5, 2009. Mary was born Jan. 31, 1919, to John and Margaret (MacNeil) Bryden of Pipers Cove.
With her strong faith, she climbed many a mountain, never faltering from her prayers. Whenever asked to say a prayer for anyone, she did. The Home Care workers said she had an open line to The Big Guy.
She recently turned 90 years old. We were all so proud of her. All her nieces, nephews, and other family members attended. She said that it was one of her greatest days.
Left to mourn her loss is daughter, Gail MacNeil-Boudreau, Sydney River, with whom she lived with, daughter, Janet Bujold (Norman Budge), Sydney River, Joe Boudreau and Gussie MacLean whom she loved like her own; her three special grandchildren, Frank Boudreau, Sydney River, Eric Bujold (Trish), Glace Bay, and Krysta Bujold, Ontario; one loving great-grandchild, Brody Bujold, Glace Bay; many nieces, nephews and their families.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Neil J. MacNeil, brothers, A.J. and Rod Bryden, sister, Sadie MacDonald, sisters-in-law, Rita Bryden, Catherine McNally (Eddie), Philomena MacNeil, brother-in-law, John FX MacNeil.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will take place 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 7 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River.
