Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home on April 5, 2009. Gerald Bernard Murphy of St. John’s formerly of Catalina, age 79 years. Predeceased by his parents Bernard and Nellie Murphy. Leaving to mourn daughter Maxine (Harry) Mercer, St. John’s; son Keith Murphy, Vermont, USA; brother John (Eileen) Murphy, St. John’s; grandchildren; Robert (Maureen) Mercer, Ottawa, Ont.; David (Shannon) Mercer, Windsor, Ont. and Aiden Murphy, of Vermont, USA; great-grandchildren; Patrick and Kathleen Mercer, Ottawa, Ont.; nephews; Howard Murphy and Shawn Murphy and niece Annette Sullivan and their families. As well, a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Monday, April 6, 2009 from 2 p.m.-9 p.m., resting at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 from 3 p.m.-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place from Mary Queen of Peace Church, Torbay Road on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Patrick’s Mercy Home.
