Olive Kines
1928 – 2009
With her husband Robert at her side and surrounded by her loving family, Olive Madeleine Kines (nee Fradette) left this world on Saturday, April 4, 2009 to meet her Savior and reunite with family and friends in heaven. Born October 7, 1928 in Radville Saskatchewan, she lived most of her life there and in Moose Jaw. Olive is predeceased by her parents, Napoleon and Clara Fradette (nee Galarneau), her brothers Romeo and Joseph and sisters Reina, Jeanne d’Arc, Armande and Juliette, and her brother-in-law Father Delbert Kines. Olive is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Robert, and children Richard (Dianne), Dwight, Brian (Mona), and twins Ken (Natalie), and Kindra; grandchildren Jannelle, Derek, Miranda, Jonathan (Margaret), Jillian (Dustin), Chelsea (Devon), Chyler, and Nichole (Baljit); and her only great-granddaughter, Tayen. Olive is also survived by her siblings, Fernand, Lucien, Roland, Marcel and Andrea and by Robert’s brothers and sisters, Gordon, Allen, Merwin, Margaret, Gertrude, Mary, as well as many other relatives. Olive was a wonderful woman and after she passed Robert kissed her and said “I was a lucky man to have the best woman on earth for my wifeâ€. Olive was a dedicated and loving mother, but was also a career woman. She worked at Shibly’s Store in Radville, Safeway in Moose Jaw, and Safeway and Eaton’s in Edmonton. In 1976 she started her own business, Simcoe Draperies, out of her home in Moose Jaw. After twelve years, she moved the business downtown and operated it with Kindra for five years. She retired in 1993 but kept busy sewing for her family and friends until she passed – her unfinished projects just as she left them on her sewing machine and work tables at home. All her grandchildren are now the proud owners of baby quilts, specially made for each of them. Aside from sewing, Olive thoroughly enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking, music and spending time playing cards with many of their friends. An Evening Prayer Service will be held on Monday, April 6 at 7:30 PM at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca Street East, Moose Jaw.
