It is with heartfelt sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our loving and strong mother, Edna Mae Marsh, which occurred Monday, April 6, 2009, at the Seaview Manor.
Born in New Waterford, Edna was a daughter of the late William P. and Jane B. (Clarke) MacIntyre.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s parish; the CWL, the Altar Society and the ladies’ auxiliary. She was an avid bingo player, blueberry picker and baker who loved horse racing, the Toronto Maple Leafs and, of course, her family.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Edna is survived by her children, Larry (Barbara), Hampton, Edna Marie (Billy) MacArthur, Reserve Mines, Francis \'FX\', Reserve Mines, Gerald (Cynthia), Fredericton, James T. (Olive), Reserve Mines, Miriam (Donnie) Tanner, Wolfville, Basil (Anne), Reserve Mines, Margaret (Fabian) Routlege, Glace Bay, Adrian, Dominion, Boniface H., Calgary, Stanley Thomas, Hamilton, Billie (Janice), Glace Bay and special children, Greg, Diane and Danny; 29 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and many great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Henry, children, James, Mary, Ruth Anne and Joseph, daughters-in-law, Patsy and Linda, grandchildren, Danny and Eileen.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. Funeral Liturgy of the Word will be offered Thursday, 11 a.m., in St. Joseph’s Church, Rev. Gerald Campbell officiating.
Donations in Edna’s memory are suggested to the St. Joseph Cemetery Fund, Palliative Care or charity of choice.
