It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mildred Sharon Cox, 92, a resident of the MacGillivray Guest Home, on Monday, April 6, 2009.
Born in Sydney, a long time resident of Rockdale Ave., she was the daughter of the late George and Bertha (Bayer) Cox.
Mildred was retired from Atlantic Spring/Machine where she was employed as an office administrator. Mildred took an active interest in the MacGillivray Guest Home community. She was instrumental in the development and adoption of The Residents Bill of Rights and made many other contributions as co-chair of the residents committee. She will be remembered for her kind and gracious manner, along with her fondness of animals.
She will be dearly missed by her Tutty great-nieces and nephews, Sandra (Glenn) MacDougall, Lower Sackville, Parker (Trish) Tutty, Ottawa, Jayne (Ted) Connolly, Toronto and George Tutty, Sydney, as well as her nieces and nephews, Susan (Joey) Power, Phillip (Beverly) Cox, Bobby (Ann Louise) Cox, Sharon (Lawrence) Jellow, Myrna Cox, Patricia Murphy and Barry White; many other great-nieces and nephews and her close friends at the MacGillivray Guest Home
Mildred was the last member of her immediate family being predeceased by her sisters, Edna Tutty, Leila White, Katherine Murphy and Georgina MacSween and brothers, Allie and Ralph.
A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday 11 a.m., with Rev. Michael Rankin officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
