It is with great sadness that we the family announce the sudden passing of our mother, Georgie Adams on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
She was born in Sydney, but lived in both Sydney River and Westmount before finally taking up residence seven years ago at her new home The Cove, which she loved dearly. She was the daughter of the late William and Leontine (Leon) Gaudet of Sydney.
She is survived by her two sons, Roger (Sandra), Kingston, N.S., Murray (Sharon), Westmount; and two daughters, Gayle (Donnie) Campbell, Balls Creek, and Judy (Kenny) Jones, Howie Centre. Also, she leaves behind her much loved grandchildren, Lori Adams, Dayna (John) LeBlanc, Glenn Adams, Kimberley (Matthew) Doyle, Heather and Tanya Campbell, Michael and Christopher (Sarah) Jones; and three great-grandsons, Alex, Ben and Drew. She is also survived by sisters, Eliza Pittman, Alfreda (Bidda) Confiant, Sydney, Sr. Lillian Gaudet, Bethany, Antigonish; and sister-in-law, Philly Gaudet, Sydney.
She was predeceased by her husband, George, sisters, Annie Bethune, Margaret Maisonneuve, brother, Edmund and an infant sister, Mary Jean.
In her earlier years, she had been actively involved in the Sydney River Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, the Canadian Order of Forresters, and the Riverdale Seniors, all of which she truly enjoyed.
Visitation will be held at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church.
