GEMMELL
MARY GEMMELL, age 85 years of Moose Jaw passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009. Mary was born and raised in the Tuxford district. She received her education at Carmel School. Mary’s love of music was instilled in her at a very young age. She played piano with the Durrant family orchestra and entertained many at the Old Clinton Hall. She remained on the family farm until her marriage to Robert Gemmell in 1948. They resided in Tuxford later moving to their own farm in the Tuxford district. She loved to bake and was an immaculate housekeeper and enjoyed summer family vacations. In later years health issues became more prevalent causing her to move to Moose Jaw residing at Pioneer Lodge. Her love of pets continued throughout her many years. She especially enjoyed pet therapy at Pioneer Lodge and the many visits given by numerous caregivers. She is predeceased by her parents, Harry and Catherine Durrant, husband, Bob, infant daughter, Janet; sons: Larry and Terry; brothers: Gilbert and Alex Durrant; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Durrant and Joan Gemmell, brothers-in-law: Sid, Stan and Jim Gemmell. She is survived by sisters-in-law: Dorothy Gemmell and Beverly Gemmell, several cousins, nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend John Carley will officiate. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday evening (April 12), 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In living memory of Mary, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J.
