January 9, 1931- April 4th, 2010 - After an incredible, joyous dance with life, Philomena passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre, Easter Sunday. Predeceased by her very loving husband Leo. Survived by her loving husband Dermot Russell, daughters Anneliese (Mulugeta Serzu), Gerry (Peg Norman), son Richard (Sheilagh McGrath), cherished grandchildren Steven, Alex, Ian and Benjamin and stepchildren Collis, Darcy, David and Madonna. She will be greatly missed by her surviving brothers and sisters, Genevieve, Angela, Willie, Pat, Rose, Clara, Christine and Thomas, her wonderful nieces and nephews and special sister-in-law Mary Rogers. She loved her many, many dear friends and her faith community which was central to her life. Philomena loved life and had a heart as big as the ocean. After a valiant and graceful struggle over 12 weeks, her poor old heart gave out. Thank you Dr. Kevin Melvin and the most amazing, expert and compassionate team of nurses and health care workers at CCU, St. Clare's and CVICU and Cardiac Special Care, HSC. Thank you for your love Fr. Frank Roche and Fr. Wayne Dohey. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Monday and Tuesday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
