Lieu de décès : Terre-Neuve, Canada
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Deane Earle Maston, age 80, of Amherst, following a short but courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan, with his loving family by his side. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Ellis and Edna (Simmonds) Maston. Deane was employed with the town of Amherst for 40 years, retiring in 1990 as Director of Finance. In the summers he enjoyed spending time at his cottage in Parrsboro with his family and many friends. Deane never missed a hunting season with his sons and friends at their camp. Throughout the years Deane worked in his shed using his woodworking skills building special projects for family. He was an avid Amherst Ramblers supporter, referring to them as "our boys." Deane also played and coached Minor hockey for many years. Above all, he was devoted to his family and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years the former Georgina (Ginger) Smith; daughter, Sherry Maston of Halifax, NS; sons, David (Pat) of Bridgewater, NS, and Scott
(Joanne) of Pictou, NS; four grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Alexandra and Iain; close cousin, George (Marion) Maston of Amherst; cousin, Shirley Alderson of Amherst. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Layton in 2006. Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation on Thursday, April 16, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church, Amherst (667-9906).
