It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley Elizabeth Iannetti, 67, on Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Bras d’Or on February 26, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Carlotta (Carey) Pero. She was a member of St. Pius X parish, Sydney Mines.
Shirley worked for many years at the Northside General Hospital, where she met many long lasting friends and co-workers.
Shirley is survived by her husband Albert ‘Abbie’ Iannetti, Sydney Mines; sisters, Marcella (Billy) Day, Bras d’Or, Geraldine (Lawrence) Roland, Barb (Doug) George, Eileen Moss, Edna (Neil) Thomas, all of Ontario and brothers, Leroy (Pat), St. Catharines, Ont., Mendell (Denise), Boularderie East, and Robert, Ontario; sister-in-law, Heather (Sonny Pero); special nephew, Travis Day; life long friend, Frances Howley and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her loving brother, Wellington (Sonny) Pero and her precious nephew, Jeffrey Pero.
Visitation for Shirley Iannetti will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Monday, April 20, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will take place on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. J.J. MacDonald officiating. A reception will follow the mass in the parish hall.
Donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or to St. Joseph’s Cemetery Fund.
