It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Quigley, on Friday, April 17, 2009, in Calgary, at the age of 81 years. Shirley is the beloved wife of Gordon Quigley; mother of David (Harriet) Quigley, and their children Doug and Sarah, and Brent (Shawna) Quigley, and their daughter Meagan, all of Calgary; she is also lovingly remembered by her sisters Connie (Al) Gallon and Dorothy (Harry) Cuffe. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Leslie and Hazel Stacey; step-mom Edith Stacey, and her brothers, Don and Charlie Stacey. Shirley was born and educated in Charlottetown, P.E.I. In 1950, she moved to Calgary, and married Gordon Quigley in 1951. She was a very spiritual and generous person, and never happier than when she was sharing her faith with others. Shirley’s passions included music, painting, singing and she loved going to church to praise God through the singing of her favourite hymns. Shirley also loved to travel to both the East and West coasts. The family sincerely thank the staff of Unit 93 at the Rockyview General Hospital for their loving care and kindness. We are grateful to her doctors, who made her last days peaceful and content. Thank you also to her Pastor, Dr. Shane Spannagel and the congregation for their prayers and support, and special thanks to her friends in The Sierras in this time of sorrow. A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at the Richmond Hill Baptist Church, 7251 Sierra Morena Blvd., S.W. Calgary, on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at 2 p.m. with Dr. Shane Spannagel officiating. A private family interment will take place earlier that day at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
