It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Agnes Maureen Collins on Sunday, April 19, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family who she cherished and loved deeply.
Maureen was born March 17, 1941 in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Geraldine (Nash) Connell.
She graduated from Holy Angels Convent, Sydney, and later the St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing, North Sydney. She was a member of St. Joseph Church.
Maureen is survived by her husband, Howard Collins; her three daughters, Mary Lynn, Carolyn and Colleen, all at home; her two sons, Howie Jr. (Rose), Westmount, Ian (Cathy), Coldbrook, N.S.; a stepson, Christopher (Giselle), British Columbia; one brother, Walter Connell, Sydney; five grandchildren, Holly, D.J., Amy, Kieran and Tristan.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Jake Andrea officiating. Burial to take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society.
