It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Amour Elaine Anderson of Glace Bay on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Seaview Manor.
Amour was the daughter of Roderick and Mary (Beaton) Anderson. Born June 18, 1923, she was a former resident of 236 Brookside St., Glace Bay, and a resident of Seaview Manor since 2005.
She is survived by sisters, Mary (Earl) Demont and Thelma MacDonald, both of Glace Bay; brother, Lorne, Coxheath and sister-in-law, Marge Anderson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins all across Canada and the USA; four special grand nieces, Brittany, Caitlin, Renee and Chelsea Demont, Bloomington, Illinois.
She was predeceased by a sister, Francis Broderick and a brother, Roderick Anderson.
Amour was a graduate of Glace Bay High School. She worked at T. Eaton Company, Glace Bay and Halifax where she retired as executive secretary to the general manager.
She was a devoted member of Knox United Church and Unit 67 of the United Church Women. She served for many years as a representative from Knox at the Presbytery level of the United Church of Canada. She enjoyed many vacations at Broad Cove Banks, Inverness, C.B. where her mother was born.
The family extends sincere thanks to her caregivers at Seaview Manor and also to her doctor of many years, Dr. David Ley.
Visitation will take place at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520, Tuesday, April 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Knox United Church, Wednesday, April 22 at 7 p.m. with Rev. John Finlayson officiating. Reception to follow. Burial at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
