Ilene Scherger-Armstrong (nee Chase)
It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Ilene Armstrong on Friday, April 17, 2009. She is predeceased by her first husband, Harry Scherger. Ilene is survived by her loving husband Roy Armstrong, son Wayne Scherger of Shanghai, China, children Katie and Jeff; daughters Pat McKenzie (Ross) Andrew and Bryan of Toronto, ON; Linda Green (Kirk) of Cranbrook, BC children Scott, Kim and Krystal; Joanne Scherger (Al) of Regina, SK. children Michael and Kristin, and 5 great-grandchildren.; along with Roy’s family, Donna Brownbridge, Colleen Peasley, Tom Armstrong and their families. Also to mourn are sisters Florence, Gladys, Frances and Brothers Bud, Bill and Ernie. Ilene was born February 7, 1926 in Moose Jaw, SK. She met and married her first husband Harry Scherger in 1945, loved and raised her children with him in Regina and Saskatoon, but lost him to illness in 1994. She was blessed to find and marry Roy Armstrong in 1997 and spent these last years enjoying many cruises, train rides, two trips to Holland, weddings, birthdays and family visits. She loved people and spent many years working in the cafeteria of Holy Cross High School. She served on the Executive at Brandtwood Estates Condo Association in many capacities. Ilene took great joy and pride in her baking and recently provided all the goodies for Roy’s 90th birthday celebration. She was a bowler, a card-player, a tireless puzzle enthusiast and a friend to Roy’s CN group. Ilene loved to dance and was a groupie for the Jammers, a band that Roy enjoys playing in. She will be greatly missed. Please join the family in celebrating her life at the Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, turn right before railway crossing) on Friday, April 24th at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Fr. Ken Beck officiating. Rite of commital will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements entrusted to Hillcrest Funeral Home, Saskatoon, SK. (306) 477-4400.
