It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and brother, Delbert Hollingsworth, 74, on Sunday, April 19, 2009, at the Northside General Hospital after a short battle with cancer.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Dorman and Hilda (Lynch) Hollingsworth.
Delbert was employed with Cogan Fuels delivering oil for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church, North Sydney, and a former member of the IOOF, and an avid fisherman. He was a loving father and dedicated husband to his wife Rose who passed away just over three weeks ago on March 25, 2009.
He is survived by his children, one son, Earl (Kelly) Hollingsworth, North Sydney; two daughters, Della (Gordon) Crews and Melody (Colin) Bastien, both of Toronto; five grandchildren, Jordon, Charleen, Nicole, Amanda, Kacey; one great-grandchild, Haley; one brother, Murdock Hollingsworth (Isabel), North Sydney and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Rose (Townsend) Hollingsworth, a son, Robert, a sister, Queenie and brother, Alex.
There will be no visitation by request. A celebration of life for Delbert will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Giles Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Burial to take place at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
