MacKay, Jessie Gladys, 98 of Vancouver, passed away April 18, 2009 in Blenheim Lodge, Vancouver. She was born in Balmoral Mills, Nova Scotia and the daughter of the late John and Bessie (Douglas) Murray. She worked as a teacher and also as a housekeeper before being married. She was married November 29, 1934 to John A. MacKay and moved to their mixed dairy farm at East Earltown, N.S. where she lived continuously until 1987. In 1987 when her husband passed away she started spending winters in Vancouver with her son Alex and his family and the summers in East Earltown. Her last years were spent in Vancouver year round. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Marion (Dennis), son Alex(Mary Ann), grandsons Andrew, Keith and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John, sisters Jean Christena, Emma, brothers Jack, Douglas, Hugh and Lloyd. The family would like to thank Blenheim Lodge which gave outstanding care to Jessie during the past few months. Visitation will be held at the MacLeod's Funeral Home, River John from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 23 and the Funeral Service will be held at the Burns Memorial Presbyterian Church, West Branch on Friday, April 24 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Lara Scholey officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Jessie's memory may be made to Blenheim Lodge, 3263 Blenheim Street, Vancouver, BC V6L 2X7 (604-732-8717) or a charity of choice.
