Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Monday, September 15, 2008, age 79 years. Predeceased by his parents, Ellen and Michael Pittman; three brothers: Jack, Peter and Ignatius and one sister Catherine Corcoran and one son-in-law Peter Whelan. Leaving to mourn his wife Winnifred and four sons: Jerry, Michael, Darrell and Derrick; two daughters: Mary Whelan and Gemma Loughlin and their spouses; nine grandchildren; one sister Mercedes Power (Bill), Freshwater, Placentia; and a large extended family and other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 17th from 10 a.m. - 12 Noon. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, September 17th, at 2 p.m. from Mary Queen of Peace Church, Torbay Road. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
