It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Nora Morris, 89, on Sunday April 26, 2009, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney, April 16, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice (Walshman) Bragg.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, a member of the ACW and Altar Guild. She was also a member of the North Sydney Pensioners Club and the North Sydney Fire Hall Auxiliary. She will be fondly remembered by those who knew her. She loved a good game of cards, ‘down the hall’ with the ladies and was always happy to have company around. She was an example to everyone around her, continually demonstrating strength and resilience throughout many aspects of her life.
She is survived by her four children, Raymond (Elaine) Ferneyhough, George (Patsy) Ferneyhough, both of Bras d’Or, Rhea (Ben) Long, North Sydney, and Eva (Clayton) Morris, Sydney Mines, she was also a mother to nephew, Kevin Bragg. She was a proud grandmother to her eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret (Bragg) Dandy and close friend, Peg Fifield with whom she shared a special bond.
She was predeceased by her first husband, William Ferneyhough of Bras d’Or and her second husband Joseph Morris of North Sydney, her brother, Stan Bragg, eight stepbrothers and sisters and a son-in-law, George MacMullin.
Thank you so much to Dr. O’Grady, Dr. Hewlett and the staff of the Northside General Hospital for all their help and support. Special thanks to the staff of the Renal Dialysis Units at the Northside General and Cape Breton Regional hospitals.
Visitation for Nora will be held Tuesday (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service to be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Carl Fraser officiating. Burial in Trinity Anglican Church Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Renal Dialysis Units at the Cape Breton Regional or the Northside General hospitals or a charity of choice.
