The death occurred peacefully, with family by his side, at the Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home, Charlottetown, on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, of Walter Lenentine, CD, of Stanchel, age 86. Walter was a veteran of the Second World War and a Vietnam peacekeeper. He was the beloved husband of Irene (nee Nye) and father of Hazen (Ann), David, John (Joyce), Terry (Irene) and Diane (Eddie) Dollar, all of Prince Edward Island and Jim of Lloydminster, Alta.; grandfather of Jeff, Robbie (Jennifer) and Gillian (Corey); Chris and Lori (Gordon); Wayne (Tracey) and Shelley (Claude); Tara (Steven), Sara (Derek) and Steven (Krystal); and Jodi (Scott), Shawn (Lisa) and Matthew; and great-grandfather of 11. Walter is also survived by his brother, Leland (Fran); his sisters, Mae McCarron, Grace (Len) Hayward, Judith (Robert) Dickieson, Carolyn (Harold) MacKay, Catherine Muzerolle and Nona (Peter) Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Veral (nee Schriver); his step-mother, Geraldine; his sister, Rose, and his brothers, Lorne, Robert, Merle, George and Edmond. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Friday, May 1, 2009, from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kelly’s Cross, on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Joseph’s Church Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Walter’s memory to the St. Joseph’s Cemetery would be appreciated.
