McARTHUR, DUANE ALBERT
Duane McArthur died tragically at the age of 44 years in Edmonton, AB. He sacrificed his life to save four innocent lives, including an unborn baby, when a killer entered his place of work. He will be remembered not only for his final act of bravery, but for his sense of humor, dedication to his family and overall good nature. Duane was a true Canadian hero.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nina; his daughters, Brenna (16) and Keiran (15) McArthur; his parents, Dennis McArthur and Gwen Armstrong, maternal grandparents; Jean Askewe and George Armstrong; his brothers, Darren and Scott McArthur; nieces and nephews, Tasha, Tanya and Kaydence McArthur and Manav and Maya Heer. He also leaves his mother and father-in-law, Kewal and Darshan Bains, his brothers-in-law; Ranjan Bains and TejPaul Heer, his sisters-in-law; Karen Heer and Dolly Bains, his godson, Desmond Shannon-Pearson, close family friends, Jason Pearson and Donna Shannon, his best friend, Wade Gustafson, countless other friends and his closest friend and ally, his dog Nisha.
Duane was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Herb and Lucy McArthur.
A Funeral Service will be held for Duane on Saturday May 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Hainstock’s Funeral Home, 9810-34 Avenue Edmonton, AB. A service will follow at the Gurdwara Singh Sabha Temple, 4504 Mill Woods Road South NW, Edmonton. There will also be a Celebration of Duane’s Life on May 5, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carlton Park Community Club, 3100 Dunn Drive, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been set up for Brenna and Keiran. Anyone who wishes to make a donation to the trust fund can do so at the Millwoods TD Canada Trust, branch #8333 on Hewes Way, Edmonton, AB.
