Edna May Kavalak
Edna May Kavalak 88 years of Bible Hill, NS and formerly of Springhill, passed away in Colchester East Hants Health Authority, Truro, NS, on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Charles M. and Margaret (Hunter) Ryan.
During her working years, Edna was employed at MacLean Frozen Foods and Surrette Battery, Springhill. She was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, Springhill and Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing and was very much a family person.
She will be sadly missed by sons, Norman (Faye), Charles, Tom (Judy) all of Springhill; daughter, Audrey (Dale) McLeod, Bible Hill, NS; brother, Pat Ryan, Pugwash; sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" (Ken) Henwood, Kathleen Ryan and Helen Henwood, all of Springhill; chosen daughter, Jo Ann (Alan) Griffon, Springhill; seven grandchildren, Joseph, Timothy, Marla, Stacey, Scott, Sean and Christopher; eight great grandchildren, Keigan, Brody, Cole, Alexander, Taylor, Amelia, Samantha and Paige; three step grandchildren, Danny, Stephen and Shelly; four step great grandchildren and one step great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband John; brothers Infant Charles and Patrick and sister Bonnie.
Arrangements have been entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, NS (902 597 2361) where visiting hours took place on Friday 7 - 9 pm. The funeral service was held from the Funeral Home on Saturday, April 26, 2009 at 2 pm, Rev. Gary Yetman officiating. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, at a later date.
