On May 1, 2009, Norma Edith Gardner (nee McCoy) went peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Predeceased by her daughter Jeanne Leipert, four sisters and a brother, Norma will be lovingly remembered by Albert, her husband of 65 years; sons: Gordon (Elaine), Clay (Yvette), son-in-law Brian Leipert (Pauline); and grandchildren: Katherine (Pat), Katreina, Dave, Lori (Jeri), Erik (Beryl), Tim (Jit), Tammy (Julio), Jamie, Michael, Barb (Darcy), Sandra (Neil), Roxane, Jennifer; and eight special great-grandchildren: sister Eileen (Bob) and numerous nieces and nephews. Norma was born on the homestead at Kincaid, SK., March 25, 1922. The family moved to Camrose, AB, then back to Saskatchewan to Marquis, Keeler, Rowletta, and then settled at Tuxford. Norma attended Normal School in Moose Jaw, receiving her teacher’s diploma. She taught for many years at Wilson and Premier School in the Rowletta district. Norma married Albert Gardner in 1944 and they settled on the farm north of Rowletta, staying there to raise their family until they began wintering in Moose Jaw in 1969. They moved into town year round in 1977, but Albert continued to farm and Norma would join him to cook meals. Norma took an active role in the community, joining the Wilson L.A., the Keeler U.C.W., the Keeler Farm Union, Lake Valley Church and Sunday School, the Civic Centre Committee, Premier School Board, Lake Valley U.C.W., and the Keeler Grandmother’s Club. She was also active with her family taking part in amateur shows, curling, sports days, 4-H, fowl suppers, catering, etc. She was a proud wife, mother and grandmother. She was a very caring and generous lady who gave to numerous charities. She loved to watch her favourite Christian programs, and spent many hours praying for her family and others. The family wishes to thank all those who cared for Norma in the final months of her life. Homecare, Union Hospital, Providence Place, Extendicare, Doctors VanHeerden and Sanderson, and special hairdresser Lori. The Funeral Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Thursday May 7, 2009 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Allan Buchanan will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials to the Friends of 3B (Cancer Ward), Pasqua Hospital, Regina, would be appreciated. In living memory of Norma, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J.
