It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother, Eva Mary Delaney, on Sunday, May 3, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary (Landry) Matheson.
Eva was a member St. Mary’s parish, East Bay. Eva enjoyed life and spending time with her family. She enjoyed darts at the East Bay Fire Department, cards and bowling. She was a volunteer for many organizations over the years.
Eva is survived by her husband, Michael Delaney; her three sons, Brian (Barb) MacNeil, Terry (Delores) MacNeil and David (Cathy) MacNeil, all of Sydney; sister-in-law, Audrey Matheson, Sydney; four grandchildren, Deanna, Micha.el, Jenna and Jillian; one great-grandson, Beinnon; as well as two nieces; three nephews; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Alexander Matheson.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place Wednesday May 6 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 7 at the funeral home chapel, with Fr. Frank Abbass officiating. Interment to take place at a later date.
