Bernard Joseph Kennedy

Bernie was born in Humbermouth, Newfoundland. As a young man, he served in the 2nd Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in Winnipeg. He met and married Regina in 1965, while working at Wabush Mines in Labrador, and had two children. Bernie brought his family to Grande Cache, Alberta in 1975, where he worked at Smoky River Coal (then McIntyre Mines) until it closed. Bernie is survived by his wife Regina, son Tony (Tammy), daughter Lori and grandchildren Anthony and Justine. He was predeceased by his mother Mary Ellen, his father Anthony, his sister Bernadette and his brother Gerry. He also leaves his brothers Don (Leone), Greg (Mary), sister-in-law Sheila and a large circle of relatives and friends. In keeping with Bernie’s wishes, a funeral service will not be held, though his love of life and generous spirit will be missed. Bernie’s family greatly appreciate the love and support expressed in so many ways by so many people since his passing. Those who wish to make donations are asked to make them to the Grande Cache Community Health Centre.
