Passed away after a courageous 20 year battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville, Connie Brothers at the age of 66 years. Connie was an inspiration to all who knew her. She fought cancer with great courage, dignity and a wonderful sense of humour. She lifted the spirits of everyone around her with her positive outlook and hope. Leaving to mourn with wonderful memories are: her devoted husband, Mike Brothers; daughter, Lisa (Steve) Henley of Stephenville; sons: Michael (Patti) of Mount Pearl and Aaron (Kim) of St. John’s; five precious grandchildren, who were the lights of her life: Lauren, Brett, Olivia Henley and Ally and Melanie Brothers; sisters: Gertrude (Roger) Humber, Irene (Bob) Brake, both of Corner Brook, Kathleen Lee of Upper Ferry, Margaret (Terry) Tobin of Ottawa, Marian (Doug) McMaster of Corner Brook and Anne (Dave) Brennan of Stephenville; brothers: Charles (Sheila) Martyn of St. John’s and Barry (Irene) Martyn of Corner Brook; brothers-in-law: John (Barb) Brothers, Dennis (Pat) Brothers, Tony (Susan) Brothers and Pierce Saunders; sisters-in-law: Mary Ezekiel (Preston), Madonna (Jim) Hoskins, Pat (Jim) Greene, Bernadette (Dave) Dawe, Joan (Peter) Cleary and Verna Stanley; numerous nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Margaret Martyn (nee Griffin). Friends may call at Russell’s Funeral Home, 57 Prince Rupert Drive, Stephenville on Friday, April 17th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 18th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Parish, West Street, Stephenville with cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital Foundation will be graciously accepted.
