It is with great sadness that the family of the late Michael Thomas Smith announce his passing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre, Stephenville Crossing on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the age of 86 years. He will be sadly missed by four sons: John (Mena) Smith of Lourdes, Alf (Sylvia) Smith of West Bay, Robert (Margaret) Smith of Stephenville, Tom (Brenda) Smith of Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia; three daughters: Bridget LeDain of Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia, Cecilia (Taff) Rogers of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Becky (Junior) LeCoure of Lourdes; daughter-in-law Joan Smith of Stephenville; three brothers: John (Genevieve) Smith of Lourdes, Joe (Marg) Smith of Labrador City, Gerald (Barb) Smith of Lourdes; two sisters: Mary Ann Skinner of Lourdes, Cecilia (Roy) White of Stephenville; 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence Smith, son, James Smith, parents, Thomas and Beatrice Smith, and brothers, Patrick and Charles Smith. Friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Lourdes on Friday and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will take place on Sunday, January 4 2009 at 3 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Lourdes, with interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in West Bay. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations to Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto Project would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements are under the supervision of Russell’s Funeral Home, Stephenville.
