Jacqueline 'Jackie' Patricia (MacNeil) MacDonald
40, Glace Bay

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing on Monday, April 5, 2010, of a very special mother, wife, sister and friend, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Jackie was born on June 4, 1969, in Glace Bay and was the daughter of the late Fred and Marianita (Gallant) MacNeil.
Jackie is survived by her loving husband, Tim, son, Luke and daughter, Madison. Also left to mourn the loss are her sisters and brothers-in-law, Gerelda (Craig) Carabin, Shirley (Greg) Pond, Tracey (Shane) Slaunwhite, Gwen MacNeil, all of Reserve Mines and Gail (Winston) O'Leary of MacAskill Brook, and nieces and nephews, Kyle and Mitch Carabin, Garett and Ashley O'Leary, Chris and Chad Pond, and Connor Slaunwhite.
Jackie was employed at Glace Bay Co-op from 1989-1995. During this time Jackie made many friends and formed lasting relationships, including meeting her husband, Tim. After working at the Co-op, Jackie worked at Scotia Chrysler then followed her passion and pursued a career as Continuing Care Assistant in which Jackie generously shared her warmth and kindness with the people she encountered at Victoria Haven Nursing Home, Glace Bay. Jackie's bright smile and caring ways touched the lives of residents and co-workers.
As a youth, Jackie was an avid figure skater in the Glace Bay figure skating club. Jackie enjoyed outdoor activities that centered around her family including camping, hiking and fun on the Mira. Hockey became a very important part of Jackie's family life, watching her children play with minor hockey and more recently becoming a member of the 'Polar Paws' senior women's team.
Jackie's profound love for her husband and children was always present and became more evident as she battled courageously with cancer. Jackie will always be remembered as a strong, loving, and nurturing mother.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Wilfred and Bridget Gallant (Reserve Mines) and paternal grandparents, John and Sarah MacNeil (Dominion).

Visitation for Jackie will take place Wednesday, April 7, 2010, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay A celebration of Jackie's life will take place 10 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at St. Anne's Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Leo Boone and Fr. Timothy MacDonald officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Reserve Mines. A reception will follow in the church foyer. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jackie's memory may be made to Cape Breton Cancer Center or a charity of your choice. Online condolences to the MacDonald family are available through www.vjmcgillivray.ca

And When I come to the end of the road,
And the sun is set for me. I want no
rites in a gloom-filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that once we shared.
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must make,
And each must go alone,
It's all part of the Master's plan.
A step on the road to home.
So when you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friends we know,
and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me, but let me Go!
