WHIDDEN, Lorne B. - 63, Greenfield, passed away Wednesday evening, April 7, 2010, in Colchester Regional Hospital, following a short battle with cancer. Born April 4, 1947, in Truro, he was a son of Ethel (Weir) Whidden, Bible Hill, and the late Bud Whidden. Lorne was an owner/operator for Layton's Taxi until his illness. He enjoyed harness racing, playing cards and karaoke and he loved to win. Lorne is survived by his daughters, Janet Phelan (Tom DeVouge); Sheila (Art) Bowden; son, Jimmy; grandsons, Christopher and Jonathan; sisters, Brenda (Jim) Geldart; Karen Lamond (Rick Creelman); brothers, Brian, Barry (Cathy), Mike, Huby; many nieces and nephews. Along with his father, he was predeceased by his niece, Charlotte Whidden. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, April 10, 2010, in Valley United Church, 110 Salmon River Road, Valley, Reverend Brian DeLong officiating. Interment will follow in Crossroads Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorne's memory to Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice are welcomed.
