The passing of Virginia Levinia "Ginny" Smith, wife of the late Clarence Earl Smith, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on April 11, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on March 2, 1930 in Pleasant Hill, Colchester County, NS, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Helen (Billings) Lyons. Ginny was a member of Nashwaaksis Baptist Church. She was a longtime employee of IBEW Local 2166 and earlier worked for the Marysville Cotton Mill. She enjoyed playing cards, especially "Canasta", gardening and bowling.
She is survived by four sons, Ron (Alvaretta) Smith of Keswick Ridge, NB, Dan (Pam) Smith of Keswick Ridge, NB, Mark (Michelle) Smith of Beaver Dam, NB and Chris (Kelly) Smith of Hanwell, NB; grandchildren, Jeremy (Teri Ann) & Kyle, Shawna & Jonathan, Rebecca, Kira & Hannah, Dru & Katelyn; sister, Audrey (Vincent) Kelly of Fredericton, NB; aunt, Pearle Billings of Fredericton, NB as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Nashwaaksis Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 2 pm with Rev. Kevin Culberson officiating. Interment will take place at Douglas Rural Cemetery, Fredericton, NB. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Nashwaaksis Baptist Church or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
