BURGESS, Ellen - Wynn Park Villa, Truro, passed away peacefully, with her daughter Mary at her side, on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the home. Born in Old Barns, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Mabel (Higgins) Archibald. Ellen was devoted to her family and loved the simple pleasures in life. Ellen is survived by her daughters, Lorena (Fred) Creelman, Mary (Walter) McNutt, all of Bible Hill; Doreen (Neil) MacMaster, Porters Lake; sons, Glendon Burgess, Ontario; Dale Burgess, Truro; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Cyrus Pratt Burgess; daughter, Rhoda; sons, Douglas and David Burgess; brothers, Alf, Johnnie, Edward, Sandy. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Neil Bower and the exceptional staff at Wynn Park Villa for their love and care to Ellen and her family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Ellen's family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., with a visitation prayer service at 8 p.m., from the Anglican tradition, led by The Reverend Lori Ramsey, both Saturday, April 17, 2010, and where the funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, April 18, 2010, Reverend Brian DeLong officiating. Reception will follow. Interment for Ellen and her daughter, Rhoda, will then be held in Christ Anglican Church Cemetery, Clifton. Family flowers only.
