Laurie Melanson, 80, of Moncton, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2010 at his residence. Born on November 22, 1929 in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late William and Roseanna (LeBlanc) Melanson. Laurie was the past owner operator of Melanson Concrete. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed playing pool as well as watching wrestling. He is survived by his wife, Doris (Richard) Melanson; his six children: Yvon (Susan), Denise (Louis-Henri), Victor, Rachel (Bruce), Daniel (Shelly) and David (Ellen); five brothers: Alfred (Dolores), Ovila (Thilda), Fr. Aurèle, c.ssr., Edgar (Betty) and Emery (Bernice); 11 grandchildren: Natalie, Luc, Catherine, Chantal, Denis, Justin, Jocelyne, Nicholas, Mathieu, Haleigh and Carly, and two great grandchildren: Ines and Dali. He was predeceased by a sister, Lina Bastarache and a brother, Gerald.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette's Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Sunday, April 18 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and on Monday from 10 am until time of departure (10:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral on MondayApril 19 at 11 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. In memory of Laurie, a contribution to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
