It is with great sadness that the family of the late Velma Compton announce her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at the age of 61 years. She will be sadly missed by her son, Rodney Derek (Annette) Boyle of Kitchener, Ontario, her daughter, Rosalind Janesta (Bruce K.) Kinslow of Stephenville, mother, Bessie Compton of Roddickton, four brothers: Freeman (Elizabeth) Compton of Bide Arm, Murdock (Yvonne) Compton of Alliston, Woodrow (Joan) Compton of Corner Brook, Melvin (Cenith) Compton of Roddickton, four sisters: Gertie (Melvin) Pilgrim of Nova Scotia, Melina (Francis) Pollard of Stephenville, Joy (Jim) Jenkins of Little Rapids, Juanita Compton of Corner Brook, six grandchildren, one great grandchild and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Reginald Compton, brother, Francis Compton and sister, Noreen Lane. Friends may call at Russell’s Funeral Home, 57 Prince Rupert Drive, Stephenville on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Friday, September 12th at 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Pentecostal Church, Carolina Avenue, Stephenville with interment in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Hansen Highway, Stephenville. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations to the family would be greatly appreciated.
